
1. Exactly what is Intensive English for International Student?
This program is a conversational English experience. Students will have the opportunity to talk in English all day, everyday. Extra attention is given to preparing students for entrance into American universities and introduction to vocabulary needed for special areas of study such as technology, science, and business. State-of-the-art computer technology also complements classroom instruction.
2. What are the levels of instruction offered?
Intensive English is offered at beginning, intermediate, high intermediate, and advanced levels.
3. Who will be admitted to the Program?
Students, sixteen years of age or older, who have completed high school, or its equivalent may apply.
4. How is placement determined?
Course placement is determined by performance on an English proficiency exam and a writing sample.
5. When is the Program offered?
It runs year-round with three 14-week sessions. Seven-week sessions are also available. *(Refer to registration for dates)
6. Are outside activities scheduled?
Absolutely. Field activities and picnics are scheduled throughout the session. Excursions to attractions such as Kennedy Space Center, Sea World, Busch Gardens, and Universal Studios are student favorites. Each semester teachers and students also organize group trips to other attractions.
7. Do you offer assistance with housing?
We provide all applicants with information about housing near the university. There are many apartments and dormitories near the campus and most are on the bus line.
8. How do I register?
You must complete an application, pay the $100 fee (by credit card or cashier's check), and submit a bank statement showing at least $7,000 in the account. Refer to "Program".
9. How many hours must students study each day?
Students on F-1 visas (Student visa) must study 5 hours per day from Monday through Thursday and 3 hours on Friday.
10. How many students are there per class?
The program tries to limit the number of students to 15 per class. TOEFL and Communication Skills classes sometimes accommodate more than 15 students for more effective interaction in the classroom.
